So, what is a Specially Trained Adult Referee (“STAR”)?

An adult associated with each team that volunteers to complete a brief training, which will help the team have a great experience in the NorCal soccer environment. The STAR parent typically will only help with administrative support, but may be called on as a club linesperson should one of the referees not be able to make the match.

Which teams are asked to have a NorCal STAR?

All NorCal teams U14 and younger will have a STAR at home matches, starting in 2024. This could be the NorCal STAR for that specific team or from another team within the same club, though ideally each team has a STAR. The STAR will identify themselves to the referee before the game.
